Back to work

I'm back at Boeing again.  I'm now a fulltime employee working on hydraulic systems as well as landing gear and brakes for the 737.  I really enjoy the work.  Officially I am a Design and Analysis Engineer although I like the analysis side more despite the fact taht I work in a design group.  As of now I do a lot of work on the functional tests that check out each component on every airplane as it moves through the factory to make sure that everything works.  I also do various troubleshooting and product improvements along the lines of redesigning parts or improving processes in the factory or field.  I love working in an airplane assembly factory.

I also bought a townhouse!  It's technically a condo, but I still love it.  I repainted it, got hardwood floors and got furniture for it too.  It has taken so much work to get it ready for living, but it has been worth it.  it is nice having somwhere of my own to live in for the first time!  However I do have two bedrooms, so I am looking for a roomate.  If anyone that I know still reads this and you are looking in Renton, let me know!

Here is a picture of the painting process.

Congratulaions on both counts.  I was beginning to wonder when you'd surface again, so it is nice to hear that you're getting settled into the Pacific Northwest and are enjoying your work at Boeing.  Sounds like a great work environment!

Long time, no talk, old roommate.  Glad to hear things are going well and you're settling into grown-up life.  Your townhouse looks awesome; you'll have to send me pics of it all furnished and decorated, since I am obssessed with interior decorating and love to see other people's houses/apartments/whatevers.

To answer your question, the two programs are Boeing's 787 and Airbus' A400M.  I started full-time work on A400M, since I co-oped with that group and really wanted to go back to them.  They wanted me back too, but realized they didn't have the salary for another engineer in the budget for 2007, so they "temporarily" loaned me to 787.  The terms of the loan were that I'd go back to A400M in January, but those sneaky 787 guys tried to keep me longer.  It's all gotten sorted out now so that I'm back on A400M full-time, which is nice, but we're super busy lately, which isn't always so nice.  But I do like my job, so it's all ok.
